CWT Journal – August 13, 2026 / Madrid

Today was mostly a travel day—3½ hours of “Are we there yet?” provided the soundtrack as we made our way to Madrid.

We eventually found our new home and discovered that we're staying right in the heart of Madrid's Chinatown. We made a trip to the mercado, grabbed some groceries, cooked a simple chicken-and-rice dinner, and settled in for something we've been missing on the road: a family TV show. Our choice for the journey is The Rings of Power.

It actually seems fitting. Tolkien's world is filled with people leaving the comforts of home, crossing unfamiliar lands, meeting strange new people, and discovering that the journey changes them as much as the destination does. Our quest thankfully involves fewer Orcs and considerably more ice cream.
